Since joining Silverman Thompson in the Personal Injury Department in 2019, Ms. Simmons has gained recognition for her individual attention and personal commitment to her clients. She is also known for her results-driven negotiation skills with insurance adjusters, largely due to her prior, extensive experience in insurance defense litigation. Prior to joining Silverman Thompson, Ms. Simmons was a partner at an insurance defense litigation firm, where she exclusively practiced insurance defense in the areas of motor vehicle accidents, personal injuries, premises liability, products liability and construction defect. Ms. Simmons also worked for over eight years as an in-house trial attorney for Nationwide Insurance Company.

Throughout her career, Ms. Simmons has handled numerous jury and non-jury trials throughout most of the jurisdictions in Maryland and in the District of Columbia. She has also handled administrative hearings at the Maryland Insurance Administration, binding arbitration proceedings and appellate briefing and argument before the Appellate Court of Maryland. In addition to her extensive trial experience, Ms. Simmons has also taught and lectured in the areas of trial advocacy, civil litigation and claims handling, including serving as an Adjunct Professor for the University of Maryland School of Law, teaching First Year Legal Analysis & Writing, in 2005.
