Welcoming Nathan Volke 

Nathan Volke joins the firm with over a decade of experience advocating for families across Maryland. He brings with him a deep well of legal knowledge, extensive trial experience, and a strong connection to the communities he serves.

In addition to his family law practice, Nathan has served on the Anne Arundel County Council, where he focused on policies affecting families and public safety. Introducing Rian Wieser 

Also joining the team is attorney Rian Wieser, whose impressive background includes a commitment to justice for underserved populations. Before entering private practice, Rian was an attorney at the Maryland Coalition Against Sexual Assault (MCASA), where she advocated for survivors and developed a strong foundation in trauma-informed legal services. 

“I am thrilled to have Rian join our team,” said Monica Scherer. “Her depth in family law is matched by her compassion and commitment to justice, particularly through her experience with some of the most vulnerable clients during her time at MCASA. Rian brings not only strong courtroom advocacy and writing skills, but also a trauma-informed approach that makes her an invaluable advocate for clients navigating incredibly difficult circumstances.”

Nathan and Rian join Monica and Associate Erin Brooks to form the largest family law team in Silverman Thompson’s history.
