Summer Associate Program

Each year, we hire up to six law students from across the country to join our firm for the summer to assist attorneys in various departments with substantive legal work. These law students partake in research writing and hands-on experience, gaining invaluable mentorship. Alongside an immersive experience at a top litigation firm, summer associates spend a day in court, have lunch with a local judge, and participate in a variety of Firm-wide social and networking events.

Those interested in applying for our Summer Associate Program are encouraged to do so before November 21, 2025. Please reach out to Senior Partner Andrew Slutkin for all inquiries and send a CV and transcript to jobinquiry@silvermanthompson.com before the above date.

Part-Time Clerkships for Law Students

We hire a handful of local law students, including past summer associates, to work as law clerks throughout the year to gain hands-on firm experience while completing their law degrees.

Typically, our law clerks perform legal research and analysis of complex issues; draft discovery requests and responses, motions, and legal memoranda; perform factual investigations and summaries; and help prepare materials for hearings or trials. In addition, law clerks are invited to observe and participate in client meetings, depositions, hearings, and trials. Silverman Thompson also provides networking opportunities and encourages attendance of social events within and outside the firm to foster professional development.

We accept applications on a rolling basis and typically start hiring by Thanksgiving for the following year. Please reach out to Senior Partner Andrew Slutkin for all inquiries and send a CV and transcript to jobinquiry@silvermanthompson.com at your earliest convenience.

We continue to mentor our Fellowship winners and provide guidance for a career in law in Baltimore, and three Fellows are currently with Silverman Thompson as clerks of attorneys since the program’s inception in 2018.

“The Silverman Thompson Fellowship has been tremendously beneficial to our students.  Each year, a rising second year University of Baltimore law student has an opportunity to work with top-notch lawyers at one of Baltimore’s premier law firms, while receiving support toward the cost of their legal education.  The Silverman Thompson fellows have gone on to obtain excellent jobs, including prestigious judicial clerkships.  I thank Steve Silverman for recognizing the value of engaging students at this early stage of their careers.” Ronald Weich, former dean of University of Baltimore School of Law.
