Governor Hogan Appoints Alexander Williams Jr. to Serve as Chair of the Appellate Judicial Nominating Commission

The Firm is pleased to announce that Alexander Williams has been appointed by Governor Larry Hogan to serve as member and Chair of the Appellate Courts Judicial Nominating Commission. As a member of the Judicial Nominating Commission, Williams will be responsible for recommending the most qualified candidates to the Governor for judicial appointment to the Court of Appeals and Court of Special Appeals when vacancies arise.

Alexander Williams brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Judicial Nominating Commission. Prior to his appointment to the federal bench by President Clinton in 1994—a post he held for nearly 20 years, Williams served Prince George’s County in Maryland in many capacities, including as State’s Attorney (elected for two terms), Public Defender, Special Counsel, Hearing Examiner, and as a Substitute Juvenile Master. He now heads the Prince George's County and Southern Maryland litigation team at Silverman Thompson.
