A former federal prosecutor, graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, and former Naval Officer, Greg Bailey joins Silverman Thompson, focusing his practice on white collar matters, criminal defense, tax controversy, and sophisticated civil litigation.
For 10 years, Mr. Bailey honed his skills as a federal prosecutor investigating and trying complicated financial fraud cases throughout the country. His military experience—including serving on warships and deploying to the Persian Gulf during Operation Iraqi Freedom—provides him with the experience and perspective to assess information and to develop a tactical strategy for even the most stressful of situations.
Greg Bailey joined the U.S. Department of Justice through the Attorney General’s Honors Program, where he was assigned to the Tax Division’s Southern Criminal Enforcement Section. In his decade as a federal prosecutor, Mr. Bailey prosecuted cases in 12 states, handling a wide range of matters, ranging from tax and financial fraud to narcotics, firearms, and immigration matters. He tried numerous federal trials and, in addition to his trial work, Mr. Bailey successfully handled several federal appeals.
Following his time in the Justice Department, Mr. Bailey conducted federal regulatory investigations in the Division of Investigations of the Office of Enforcement at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Those investigations involved complicated financial fraud and violations of federal regulations concerning the generation and transmission of electricity.
Greg Bailey is an experienced litigator and a fierce advocate, at ease in the courtroom. However, when it is in his client’s best interest, he is just as comfortable negotiating the best possible resolution outside the courthouse, often before the controversy even sees the light of day.
Mr. Bailey received his undergraduate degree from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland; his master’s degree in National Security and Public Safety from the University of New Haven; and his law degree from The Catholic University’s Columbus School of Law, where he graduated in the top 5% of his class and served as the assistant managing editor of The Catholic University Law Review.
