Renee Gast joins Silverman Thompson’s business litigation and real estate practice groups as an associate with a range of experiences across both the public and private sectors.

Following law school, Ms. Gast served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Mark W. Crooks in the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County. In that role, she further honed her research, writing, and analytical skills while assisting on both civil and criminal matters.

As an emerging talent in the Baltimore legal community, Ms. Gast is commended for her approachable nature and ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues, clients, and members of the judiciary. She has also been recognized for her clear and effective communication in both writing and oral advocacy.

Throughout her time at the University of Baltimore School of Law, Ms. Gast gained hands-on legal experience in client advocacy through internships and clerkships with the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission, Judge Douglas R. M. Nazarian on the Appellate Court of Maryland, and Council, Baradel, and Kosmerl & Nolan, P.A.

During law school, she served as Symposium Editor for the Law Review, where she planned and executed a day-long symposium on cannabis law, bringing together panels on business, criminal law, and social equity issues. The program highlighted her organizational and leadership abilities while deepening her engagement with complex and evolving areas of the law. She also served as a student attorney at UB Law’s Saul Ewing Civil Advocacy Clinic.

Before attending law school, Ms. Gast earned her B.A. from Towson University, where she was a Division I student-athlete on the varsity women’s soccer team.
