University of Baltimore School of Law Fellowship
Here at Silverman Thompson, we are committed to cultivating local talent from our Baltimore community. Our University of Baltimore School of Law Fellowship is designed to reward and retain top legal talent at the University of Baltimore (UB Law), the alma mater of nearly half of our firm.
Our fellows apply during their first year at UB Law and are awarded a two-year scholarship, a one-year fellowship stipend, and a position in the firm’s summer clerkship program.

This year, we’ve welcomed Tyler Konigsberg as our 2025 UB Law Fellow. Born and raised in Maryland, Tyler joins the Silverman Thompson as a rising 2L after graduating from Babson College magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration. “I’m looking forward to getting as much hands-on opportunity as I can,” said Tyler, who is interested in pursuing a career in business and civil litigation.
Beyond the mentorship and legal development, the UB Law Fellowship grants students the opportunity to focus on law school and extracurriculars, like the University of Baltimore Law Review. “[The fellowship is] an investment in myself so I can do better during the year and succeed after, as well,” says 2024 Fellow William Cellitto on the financial freedom the scholarship and stipend allow.
“The Silverman Thompson Fellowship has been tremendously beneficial to our students. Each year, a rising second year University of Baltimore law student has an opportunity to work with top-notch lawyers at one of Baltimore’s premier law firms, while receiving support toward the cost of their legal education. The Silverman Thompson fellows have gone on to obtain excellent jobs, including prestigious judicial clerkships. I thank Steve Silverman for recognizing the value of engaging students at this early stage of their careers.” —Ronald Weich, former dean of University of Baltimore School of Law
We continue to mentor our fellowship recipients and provide guidance for their legal careers in Baltimore, and three fellows are currently with Silverman Thompson as clerks. After his graduation, our 2018 fellow Joe Stephan re-joined Silverman Thompson as a family law associate for three years, and we are pleased to welcome back our 2022 fellow Keira Sherper as an associate in October 2025.

“At Silverman Thompson, I gained meaningful, hands-on experience early in my legal education. I had the opportunity to observe hearings and trials, assist in drafting motions and appellate briefs, and conduct research across a range of practice areas. The position helped me strengthen my practical research and writing skills and build strong working relationships with the attorneys at the firm. Now finishing my second year of law school, I am looking forward to returning this summer and continuing to gain exposure to a broad range of substantive legal work while continuing to learn in the supportive environment at Silverman Thompson,” 2024 University of Baltimore School of Law Fellow William Cellitto

“I came to Maryland from Texas for law school not knowing anyone for a thousand miles. This fellowship has given me not only the assurance that I can make it on my own but a network of professional support and people I can trust,” 2023 University of Baltimore School of Law Fellow Bella Winslow
