Silverman Thompson Client Awarded $1.42M by Jury for Surgery on the Wrong Side

In a case concluded yesterday by partners Andrew Slutkin and Jamison White, a Baltimore jury awarded $1.42M against a doctor who removed the wrong ovary and unnecessarily took out a fallopian tube tube during surgery. After seven sonograms showing a right-side ovarian cyst that was potentially cancerous, the doctor negligently removed the healthy ovary. The evidence at trial showed the mistake was further compounded by the doctor when she failed to communicate her mistake to the patient and fraudulently altered the patients medical records to cover-up the mistake.
