Silverman Thompson, National Co-Lead Counsel, Wins Major Victory for Former NHL Players

The NHL’s motion to dismiss a concussion lawsuit brought on by some of the league’s former players, represented by co-lead counsel Silverman Thompson, was denied by a US district court in Minnesota. The NHL tried to get the case dismissed, by arguing both time-sensitivity and jurisdictional issues. However, Judge Susan Richard Nelson ruled that the NHL’s arguments were insufficient to warrant a dismissal. The ruling is a victory for the firm’s clients, who have accused the league of concealing the risks of repeated head trauma from them and promoting violence on the ice.
