The Hon. Alexander Williams, Jr., Retired Federal Judge, Joins Firm

The Honorable Alexander Williams, Jr., retired Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Maryland and a native of Washington, D.C., has joined the Baltimore law firm Silverman Thompson, one of the premier litigation firms in the MidAtlantic region.

Appointed by President Clinton to the Federal Court in 1994, Judge Alexander Williams, Jr. served his court with distinction for nearly twenty years before retiring on January 3, 2014. Prior to his appointment to the federal bench, Judge Williams served Prince George's County, Maryland, in legal capacities, including as State's Attorney (elected for two terms), Public Defender, Special Counsel, Hearing Examiner, and as a Substitute Juvenile Master. Judge Williams also had a successful career in private practice in Maryland and Washington, DC. He is a founder, member, and the first president of the J. Franklyn Bourne Bar Association, Inc. and has served as a Professor at Howard University Law School. He has written seven volumes of published opinions and has presided over 6,000 complex civil and 1,000 federal criminal cases.

Judge Williams now brings his experience and distinguished record of accomplishment to Silverman Thompson. In this new role, he serves as the only practicing retired Federal Judge in Maryland to advise clients in complex civil litigation and federal criminal matters throughout Maryland; Washington, D.C.; and beyond.
