Courthouse Victories, et al.

The firm continued to raise the bar in litigation throughout 2026.

This year, our plaintiffs’ practice recovered more than $20 million in verdicts and settlements for victims of malpractice, sexual abuse, and negligence.

Our appellate team argued complex matters before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, including a Lanham Act case involving the importation of drugs into the United States, as well as significant matters before Maryland appellate courts.

In defending our business clients, Silverman Thompson successfully defeated multiple lawsuits involving employment disputes, minority shareholder suppression claims, and other complex commercial matters.

Meanwhile, our criminal defense team remained exceptionally active in state and federal courts, making over 300 court appearances. Highlights included a rare felony trial acquittal on behalf of a client charged with first-degree murder in Harford County Circuit Court.

Fostering the Next Generation of Legal Talent

Each summer, we welcome a cohort of law students to our clerkship program. This year, we’re thrilled to have seven exceptional students spend their summer at Silverman Thompson:

  • Sophia Derr, University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law ’28
  • Ian Drury, University of Baltimore School of Law ‘27
  • Anthony Horodowicz, University of Baltimore School of Law ‘28
  • Sabrina Pereira, University of Baltimore School of Law ‘28
  • Madelyn Schloss, University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law ’28
  • Meaghan Slattery, University of Baltimore School of Law ‘27
  • Chad Ward, University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law ’28

Among our summer clerks is our 2026 University of Baltimore School of Law Fellow, Anthony Horodowicz.

Each year, this fellowship gives us the opportunity to connect with a standout law student and bring them into the day-to-day work of our firm.

Our University of Baltimore School of Law Fellowship is designed to support a promising student through financial assistance and hands-on experience working alongside our attorneys. At the end of their first year, fellows are awarded a two-year scholarship, a one-year fellowship stipend, and a position in the firm’s summer associate and law clerk programs.

Attorney Spotlight

In 2025, we welcomed Greg Bailey to our team. Greg is a former federal prosecutor, graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, and former Naval Officer. He joins Silverman Thompson focusing his practice on tax controversy, white collar matters, criminal defense, and sophisticated civil litigation.

As tax season wraps up, you may find yourself with an unpleasant letter from the IRS raising a potential tax controversy that should not be ignored. If you find yourself in this unfortunate situation, schedule a consultation with our team.

What sets us apart at Silverman Thompson is our multi-generational team with decades of experience at the highest levels of public service. We are the only firm in Maryland with a partner who previously served as a federal judge.

Judge Alexander Williams, Jr. joined Silverman Thompson after retiring from the United States District Court for the District of Maryland in 2014. Upon his retirement, he founded the non-profit The Judge Alexander Williams, Jr. Center for Education, Justice & Ethics, dedicated to advancing social justice by addressing the ethical and systemic challenges created by structural inequities that disproportionately affect historically marginalized communities. Through innovative programs, applied research, community partnerships, and advocacy for ethical public policy reform, the Center works to expand opportunities, promote equity, and empower the next generation of leaders.
